Turabian Citation Style Guide 9th Edition: C. Blog Entries and Comments

This guide will help you cite sources in the Turabian/Chicago Style.

About Citing Websites

For each type of source in this guide, the general form and specific examples will be provided for both the Notes-Bibliography and the Author-Date style options of Turabian.

This information and several of the examples were drawn from A manual for writers of research papers, theses, and dissertations (8th edition). Numbers in parentheses refer to specific pages in the manual.

For further information, please ask your instructor or refer to the Turabian manual.

Blog Entries and Comments

Blog entries and comments are cited like newspaper articles and may also be cited in the running text instead of in a note, bibliography, or reference list (i.e. "In a comment posted to The Becker-Posner Blog on February 16, 2012..."). Give the blogger's name exactly as listed even if it is obviously a pseudonym. However, if the blogger's real name can be determined, include this information in brackets following the blog name (pp. 197-8; 261).

When citing a reader's comment, follow the basic pattern for blog entries but first identify the commenter's name (exactly as listed) and the date/time the comment was posted (p. 198).
